A Few of Our Favorite Things: Fleetmac Wood

No, that’s not a typo — Fleetmac Wood is the very intentional moniker of a traveling DJ collective and party dedicated exclusively to edits and remixes of classic Fleetwood Mac tracks.  The husband and wife duo have been amassing quite the audience over the past year, and as such, they’ve been busy with takeovers at the Glastonbury Festival, jaunts in London, and debuts at both Burning Man and the NYC circuit. Their  music is the embodiment of uncompromising joy and modern dance sensibilities, serving as an homage that is both sincere and satisfying.

Recently, we caught up with Alex and Lisa in between bouts of partying and had the chance to ask them about where they get their inspiration and energy. Check out the vintage rides and auxiliary percussion that get Fleetmac Wood up and ready to go. And party with them this Saturday, Oct 4.

1. Tambourines

Old ones, new ones, LED flashing ones, we love to bang a tambourine. Here’s our latest favorite framing our party at the Ace Hotel & Swim Club, Palm Springs.

2. Stevie Nicks

24 Karat Gold is a new album from Stevie Nicks and an exhibition of never-before-seen self-portraits. To think these beautiful images have been sitting in a shoe box for all these years – although knowing Stevie, it would have been a pretty shoe box. We hoping to hang the pool shot at Fleetmac Wood HQ.

 3. Live performances

As far as live performances go, Stevie Nicks really channels the Welsh witch on stage in this video from 1976. Make sure you watch it until the end and feel the power.

4. This rare footage of Stevie singing Wild Heart gives us goose bumps.

5. The Secret Garden is a special place for us. We staged a party on the magical Pagoda Stage this year.

6. We love AOR Disco for soft rock edits and mixes. We’ve hosted Volume 1, 2 and 3 of our Fleetmac Wood mixes – watch out for number 4.

7. The Pikey, LA

We’re Londoners in LA so often we get a hankering for a Sunday roast and this restaurant exceeded our expectations. We imagine the English contingent of the Mac would also feel at home here too.

8. We’ve always loved vintage shopping so it makes sense that we had to get a vintage car. We love cruising in our cream 1986 Mercedes 560 SL

9. One of our favorite edits in the Fleetmac Wood project has been Antenna Happy’s edit of The Chain which always takes the roof off.

10. We’ve just moved to Laurel Canyon and we love the Laurel Canyon Country Store. Not only because it was the location of a chance meeting that led to the formation of the current Fleetwood Mac line up, but it also stocks Marmite and other essentials.
