For 15 years, ALT CITIZEN, the independent music publication, live show promoter, and zine, has been a pioneer in uplifting, inspiring, and keeping alive New York City underground music, its community, and story.
Established in 2010, ALT CITIZEN’s roots stem from those of music journalism’s heyday – music discovery through tangible media, on-the-ground live show reports, authentic taste-making, au fait curation of bills, show roundups, and new music lists, amongst more – and continues to maintain its status as a clocker of legends and respected platform that understands music, shares good music, and supports the passion of musicians that we too are fueled by every day.
To celebrate 15 years of Music Discovery, ALT CITIZEN is launching an activation to remind us of the true importance of keeping music communities alive. Artists make music for fans. Fans buy tickets that support artists. Venues hire teams and bookers to make shows happen. Promoters get new people out to the show. And journalists tell the story of us.
