Alt Citizen’s April show forecast

Illustration by Cynthia Alfonso, see more of her work here and here.

Maybe it’s the post SXSW migration back to New York or the supposed end of the dreary weather but there are a million fucking shows happening this month all fighting for your time and money. These are the ones that you should care about-at least according to me and some of our other editors. See you there.

*Moonwalks @ Pianos — 21+ ($12), tickets and details here.

I love Moonwalks! They’re great live and feel like a glittery menagerie of hedonism, wavy guitars, and industrial clanking.

Sunday April 15th

Wednesday April 18th

*James Chance, Yaasss, Chorizo @ Bowery Electric — 21+ ($12), tickets and details here.

*The Garden, Tijuana Panthers, Cowgirl Clue @ Market Hotel — All ages ($16), tickets and details here.

*I’m conflicted about these two shows-on the one hand James Chance, Yaasss, and Chorizo is a solid fucking line up and Chance is an icon. The bands in do however play New York frequently.

The Garden however are based in California and make rare appearances on the East Coast. Plus I’ve babbled on about them for eternity but as time passes they become increasingly less interesting to me.

Thursday April 19th

Baths, No Joy and Sasami @ Elsewhere — 16+ ($20), tickets and details here.

Friday April 20th

Jeff Rosenstock, Martha and Bad Moves @ Warsaw — All ages ($15), tickets and details here.

*The Mystery Lights, Tall Juan and Future Punx @ Market Hotel — All ages ($13), tickets and details here.

*The Mystery Lights are great! Like really great! There’s a reason they’re mentioned so frequently in conversations about best live bands and seeing them is way easier than trying to figure out what to do on a Friday night so make the right decision.

Surfer Blood and Winter @ Union Pool — 21+ ($20), tickets and details here.

Thursday April 26th

Minus The Bear, The Coathangers @ Warsaw — All ages ($30), tickets and details here.
