April 20: Sure Sure and Lizzie No @ Rough Trade, 9pm ($15)

Finally, a band that reminds me of my jeunesse (youth), of high school innocence, the incense of night blooming jasmine, biting into blackberries—embracing their purplish stain on my dewy lips. Its perfect music for daydreaming in class or perfect music for skipping class? Can you tell I have such a crush on this completely DIY band?

Sure Sure’s debut self-titled album was recorded from a makeshift home studio in Los Angeles. They will be playing on April 20th at Rough Trade, a perfect show to invite your crush to. Their jubilant indie-pop melodies have been praised by Mid-2000s Indie Legends, Ed Droste of Grizzly Bear and Vampire Weekend’s Rostam. Although their songs are reminiscent of indie pop their is a refreshing jazz & funky quality to their sound. I am secretly stoked for this revival, don’t tell anyone – I mean tell all your friends that SURE SURE is coming to Brooklyn just in time to welcome the coming of spring.
