MoMA Nights presents the first night of PopRally, a weekly program of artist collaborations, performances, film screenings, and digital content that encourages new and experimental ways of engaging with modern and contemporary art. Over the next four Thursdays, MoMA will be presenting four buzzworthy bands — spanning a range of genres from electronic and R&B to post-punk and indie rock — all selected by MoMA’s PopRally committee. Each concert includes an opening set at 5:30 p.m. by a DJ from Newtown Radio, a Bushwick, Brooklyn-based Internet radio station, formed among friends in 2010, dedicated to sharing the best local music of tomorrow. Visitors can see MoMA’s collection and summer exhibitions, and enjoy these live music performances in the Sculpture Garden.
Two of these particular shows caught our eye, including post-punk outfit Regal Degal on August 20 and pop songstress Tei Shi on August 27, so clear your calender and enjoy the last of summer with some amazing music and art.
Galcher Lustwerk kicks off the series on August 6. More info here.
