It seems that all I’ve been hearing about lately is Day Wave. The feel good, alt-pop of Day Wave — aka Jackson Phillips — was broadcasted by Zane Lowe on the first day of Beats 1, and has since accelerated rapidly. It’s not difficult to see why: his songs, like “We Try But We Don’t Fit In,” are irresistibly danceable, with simple yet relatable lyrics like “Hold on/ Who am I again?” Day Wave is a talent not to be missed, but if you haven’t had a chance to see him live, check out some of our pics from his recent gig at Mercury Lounge, then catch him on the west coast and take some of your own.
