BRIAN’S LIST: WEEK OF 1/30/17

BRIAN’S LIST: SHOWCASING THE BEST DEALS AND INTERESTING FINDS IN MUSICAL EQUIPMENT IN NEW YORK CITY.

FENDER THINLINE 72′ RE-ISSUE MIJ – $600

Really clean one here! Born in the 1990’s in Japan this very nicely crafted semi-hollow guitar is loaded with those special “wide-range” pickups Fender made and is a cool blend giving it some Gibson flavor. Always loved a natural finish on any guitar!

This gal has some light wear but who wants a guitar that no one played? Also features the factory original 1950’s style Kluson tuners instead of the cheaper ones they put on these days. Hardshell case included!

Location: Midtown West

Curtis Mayfield dug the Thinline! Here he is playing one with the regular single coil set-up!

1981 Greco Les Paul Custom – $850

Another guitar coming in from the land of the rising sun, here we have a great looking Greco Les Paul Custom. Beautiful finish, nice reds and solid golds I do say! These guitars are an awesome and affordable option for your Les Paul needs! I’d bet good money this thing would slay many of these new poorly constructed $2k+ Les Paul’s over at GC right now.

These guys have a nice 60’s style slim neck! Gibson sued Greco at the time over this baby cause it was such a great copy!

Location: Garden City, Long Island

This guy goes into good detail about the story and the differences in the models:

1970’s DeARMOND “WEEPER” WAH PEDAL – $125

Very cool, pretty rare and totally unique sounding Wah Wah pedal by DeArmond. Much more cut and mid-range then other Wah pedals out there – really its own beast. This one is fully functional and has seriously STURDY construction.

This is “Or Best OFFER” folks so get over there and see about it! Channel your inner Jimi but beware these guys are NOT true-bypass.

Location: The Bronx

1960’s HOFNER CLUB 50 – $700

This here is what I call a Player Guitar. Starting its life off in Germany as a hollow body with no F holes this Les Paul style bodied guitar has some real character in my opinion! Bridge pickup was replaced with a Bill Lawrence  humbucker turning this into a real heavy machine. Still features the “toaster” style pickup in the neck. John Lennon in his youth owned a Club 40 – same guitar but ONLY had the neck pick-up.

Having been checked over and adjusted by the good folks down at RetroFret in Gowanus the seller says this is READY TO GO! Hardshell case included!

Location: Bushwick/Redhook/Midtown

Cool story as to why The Faces are holding up this Club 40 with The Beatles signatures on it!

Tips: Find something on Brian’s List but the link has since expired?  This doesn’t mean the item has been sold.  It just means the seller did not repost the item in time.  If it is an item you are really excited about; search craigslist for it using bold terms (model name etc).  It could have been reposted under a different link or a new post altogether (updated pics, info etc.)  If it is not sold it will pop up again in the next few days.  Don’t sweat it.

In the case of something you are seriously considering, it’s good to make initial contact with the seller even if you can’t immediately purchase the item or make it out to where ever it is located right away.  This could help you too build a relationship with the seller and he/she may hold it for you over someone else until you are ready.  But as we all know- CASH IS KING.
