Listen: Blood And Glass “Paper Heart”

Blood And Glass channels a heartbroken, Cyndi Lauper vibe with “Paper Heart” (the first single off their debut album, Museum With No Walls). Held together by paper-thin vocals and a minimalistic, electronic symphony, “Paper Heart” is fragile in its essence. The lyrics themselves are “origami” pieces meticulously placed together, strung along by delicate violin strokes and creeping 80’s beats. Don’t let this fool you though—the song eventually builds towards a burst of emotion that is vibrant, strong, and declarative. Powerful statements of watching everything burn and fall—a “whole world” lost in an instant, leading one to wonder how strong the foundations were in the first place. All crashing down to the repeated question, “Did I come off like I’m too dark, when I tore out my paper heart?” Straight out of Montreal, this barque-pop group is looking to break some hearts and garner some wandering eyes looking for something new, strange, and addictive. If the rest of the album sounds anything like the first single, their chances are good. Listen below.

Museum With No Walls is out 10/21 on Mirror Mirror.
