Listen: DEERS “Castigadas en el granero”

According to Google Translate, “Castigadas en el granero” means “punished in the barn.” But then again, we all know that Google Translate always lies. Because right now DEERS is being anything and everything but punished. The Spanish all-girl band that’s only a couple of months old just finished a short but very successful UK tour, during which they not only scored a gig at the famous Bestival but also filled up all their other concerts easily. Now they’re releasing a new track that was recorded by Nicolas Mühe at Rubber-Tracks in Berlin and mixed by Diego García of The Parrots – and that is actually their first song to be recorded by all four of them together (remember when we wrote about them a couple of weeks ago when it was just these two?)

For  the new track Madrid’s Carlotta Cosials and Ana Garcia Perrote recruited two friends to prove to us once again that they’re everyone’s new favorite band. “Castigadas en el granero” starts off with a melancholic guitar solo before jumping to the band’s signature foot-stomping beats while their mumbled lyrics perfectly mirror the girls’ cool and careless attitude. It’s fun, addicting … and may or may not be about punishing someone in the barn. Either way, DEERS is definitely a band you’ll want to keep an eye on. But you knew that, didn’t you?

DEERS’ new single BARN will be released on November 3, 2014, on Lucky Number / Mom + Pop.
