Listen: Haerts “Giving Up”

Brooklyn synth-pop quartet Haerts return with the gorgeous, galloping new single “Giving Up.” This cut follows 2013’s St. Lucia-produced Hemiplegia EP, which gifted the world “Wings” and “All The Days.”

“Giving Up” is immediately magnetic. A fast, pulsing beat contrasts angelic vocals, leading to an arena-worthy chorus. Haerts continually cast modern spells on classic ‘80s-inspired pop and this has never been more true than now. At around the 2:45 mark, everything slows as an infectious repetition (“I’m giving up / I’m giving up / I’m giving…”) builds. The echo is catchy enough to make fellow ’80s-lovers Haim proud—and maybe a little jealous, too. The entire song shimmers, soars and begs for an instant replay.

Listen, below.

This cut will be on their debut, and long-awaited, self-titled LP set to be released on October 28th via Columbia.
