Listen: Insecure Men – Karaoke For One

Karaoke For One sounds like the name of a subterranean Chinatown karaoke bar, always empty save for an omnipresent perpetually drunk regular, the bar a front for sinister criminal ongoings. Although that bar doesn’t exist (or maybe it does in some back alley corner) it’s the name of an album of covers by Insecure Men, the new musical project of Saul Adamczewski (formerly of Fat White Family).

The nine cover tracks ranging on Karaoke For One range from Van Morrison’s “Madame George” to the Nips’ “Gabrielle.” It’s pretty keyboard heavy, weirdly tropical and ethereal while maintaining a general overtone of loneliness and isolation. The highpoint is the cover of Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game” which is equal parts beautiful and bizarre. Listen to a couple of tracks below and stream the entire album here.
