Nova Heart track “Evil” is a high energy electro-pop nightmare characterized by adrenaline pulsing beats and what feels like a decent into deep space jungle. With an opening riff that puts imagery of Rocky training to Eye Of The Tiger, this track is like a theme song for my training to defeat my worst alien boss-level challenger. “Evil” is the last teaser for Beijing based trio’s October 2 debut self-titled LP release via LoveFakeMusic. Formed in 2011 Nova Heart is made up of bassist Box Xuan, Drummer Lu , and lead singer/keyboardist Helen Feng aka “the Queen of Beijing Rock” + “Blondie of China.” For lovers of bands such as The XX and Cociteau Twins, Nova Heart embodies a similar ethereal, dark minimal electro-pop. Although both prior mentioned groups are multi-gendered Nova Heart all girl line up brings a strong feminine perspective to the forefront of their musical talents.
