New York City-bred post-hardcore rockers Show Me The Body have released a new single, “One Train,” accompanied by a blistering music video.
The two-minute-and-a-half-long track begins with and maintains a steady banjo plucking throughout, and kicks off by professing its NYC roots in both song title and lyrics: “Cut lip, no love / New York, my home.” A blend of rapping, hard-hitting grunge drums, and vivid, disturbed nouns (Mutts, dirty, blood, bodies, mad, veins, violence, slugs, creepy crawlies, etc.) makes for a quintessential yet refreshed SMTB song, and a reflection of the literal one train experience: “All these nights, stained on my brain / I remember all the time that I spent on the one train.”
The local legend trio’s newest track marks 10 years since the release of Body War, the band’s acclaimed debut album. SMTB’s latest record, Corpus II, the follow-up to its sophomore record Corpus I, was released last September.
