Listen: The Muckers – “That’s All I Want”

I’m always a fan of some sort of creative restriction or framework — self-inflicted or otherwise — and how it inspires an artists work. The Muckers found themselves coming up to their deadline for completing their long awaited debut record, Endeavor, and out of that time pressure and the world starting to fall around them at the start of widespread Covid in the states, “That’s All I Want” was born.

“That’s All I Want” has the same 70s glam and psych-influence we’ve come to know and love the band for, but takes a darker and dizzying turn as well. The song opens with a few catchy guitar licks from Emir Mohseni before drummer John Zimmerman propels them into a trance-like march. The march continues with spurts of madness sprinkled throughout until the song begins to breakdown. It almost combusts and swirls away as their pent-up frustration maxes out and distorts down the drain.

Although we can’t see the band live and in person to go mad along with them, once the world is open again, you know what’s going down. You can pre-order Endeavor now, though, to ease the pain.
