Listen: The Slits “FM” #TBT (1978)

The Slits were a gritty, British punk from the ’70s, now recognized as one of the foremother’s of the riot grrl movement. Their combination of heavy distortion, and quavering vocals packed a wild punch, and their debut album Cut is a cult classic that saw a deluxe re-release in 2009. From that brawny collection of songs comes the track “FM,” which you learn through the lyrics stands for “frequent mutilation.” Check out this seamless, grungy gem from their live sessions in the late ’70s.
