Found sounds are a great way to disrupt the melody and meaning, it is also something that will always have a dual effect on the listener—to separate meaning from the concrete sound isn’t natural for any listener. Producer, Matt Weiner, who goes by the sobriquet Twins, toys with the sound of glass shattering, in his latest release “Glass Breaks Glass.”

Glass shattering is a sound that comes with consequences, a sound of destruction and one that yields sentiments of shame, yet Matt Weiner finds a way to manipulate these sentiments revealing the breakthrough after a calamity. The jarring sound of glass is followed by steady drums and a deep warbly bass line ensues, turning the track into an experimental new-wave pop song.
