Varsity, an endlessly fun garage-pop troupe from Chicago, just dropped”Cult of Personality,” the super bouncy and satisfying A-side to their recently released split single (which also includes B-side “So Sad, So Sad”). Spontaneous wailing guitar riffs and sugary sweet melodies make this track a poppy earworm, ready for cross-country roadtrips or some impromptu end-of-summer dance parties. There’s just enough grit to keep this gem from feeling too polished, and it’s with that awesome balance of strong, crisp melodies and warm distortion that Varsity knows just how to keep us hooked.
