Listen: Young Magic “Fall In”

Brooklyn’s own Young Magic have recently debuted “Fall In,” the first single from their upcoming album, Breathing Statues. It’s smooth, psychedelic electronica, showcasing seductive, swirling echoes of Melati Malay’s vocals atop subtle bass and drums accompaniment. The interspersing synth lines vacillate between shimmering and stinging, punctuating the track with an underlying haunting demeanor, as if the spacey, transcendental ease you feel one moment could be gone the next. The layering is complex and compelling but never overwrought, and how Young Magic managed to make this track feel both so potent and so effortless deserves a nod. Many nods.

Unfortunately, this and a very short teaser are all we have until the album slips into our hearts this May. But don’t worry — we’re keeping a close eye on this one, and we’ll keep you posted.
