A dream boat is an ideal: they’re almost untouchable, unlovable, unreal. Which is kind of how a break up feels — longing for someone you think exists but is long since gone, or never was. Often times the person we’ve loved is an illusion — someone we’ve crafted up in our heads and hearts and convinced ourselves is real. This is getting heady, but love is complicated like that, and what’s life without love?
