Moon Panda’s second single of 2018, “Gun,” is an entrancing world of indecision and complexities of the mind. A great song for those moments you feel you have no idea what you’re doing.
The London dream-pop duo have really taken on their own identity in the last year with their self-released singles “Gun” and their June debut “Rabbit.” The second guessing, questioning voice in your head where “even the sweetest thoughts get twisted,” Myers leads you through subtle time changes and slowly creeping verses into a swirling chorus always feeling a bit unsure of what’s around the corner.
The indecision, frustration and mind playing tricks on you is all personified perfectly here in a tune easily put in the same arena as artists like Warpaint and Feist. But undoubtedly it’s the pairing Myers’ harmonies and bass lines along with Gustav Moltke’s perfectly minimalist guitar work that really set them apart into something special.
