Nunchuck-wielding Haiku Hands want you to just ‘enjoy your life’

Australian electro-punk trio Haiku Hands have evolved over the years to reach this new high point in their journey as a group putting out killer dance floor cuts like “It’s Not About You” and “Dare You Not To Dance.” The recent video for “Nunchucka,” out now via Spinning Top Records (an offshoot of the management company behind Tame Impala) takes to the depths of a basement gathering as they don lipstick-stained masks and painted paper bags over their heads. In their video for “Ma Ruler,” out today, they continue the masked party out into the streets. Their music is insanely fun (and a little bit insane), and the perfect catharsis for whatever you’re going through. With huge production that makes you feel like you’re face to face with an 808 under a strobe light – no matter where you are – Haiku Hands’ new music will transport you to a better place.

The Videos precede a run of much anticipated US dates, including a few in New York surrounding their Governor’s Ball set on June 11. Catch them at DROM on the 10th for a late-night set to literally bring the basement party energy to life, tickets for the tour HERE.

“Nunchucka” is as adrenaline-fueled as Haiku Hands ever was, with a grungy, underground video directed by Triana Hernandez (Amyl and the Sniffers, RYE). Plain and simple, it’s: “A super charged high energy self affirmation anthem for anyone who wants to wipe off the patriarchal stain of self-loathing. A song to listen to before you go out, when you’re out, and when you get home. Enjoy your life.”

Both songs embody everything that Haiku Hands hopes to be: cinematic in sound, taking you away to a world not quite like the one we’re in from day to day. It’s somewhere better, where you’re able to let loose and enjoy the full-on layering of alt-dance, electronic-punk feeling of it all. The video is ominous in a lighthearted way, once again removing any need to worry; stripping the experience of any anxiety in spite of the grungy cult energy. The pure fun of the group is only elevated by their ability to captivate any audience, either online or as they perform live, with their “I-want-to-hang-out-and-party-with-you” energy.

Catch ’em if you can!
