Premiere: Alien Kisses “Galaxy Love”

Jenny Wong from Brooklyn shoegaze project Vivienne Eastwood paired up with actress and humble-creator, Julia Morrison, on their project, Alien Kisses. Alien Kisses’ debut single “Galaxy Love” is a futuristic experimental track and a love poem all in one. The track is embellished with swooping 80s synths that echo over an easy beat. Starting at a raw place and gliding into a head swayer, “Galaxy Love” takes you to another dimension. The sound is reminiscent of a sci-fi love story. A fascination explored in Stranger Things and recent releases by Porches and Blood Orange.

The spoken lyrics were written and performed by Morrison. A self proclaimed story-teller, Morrison states on her website, “I was open and curious and dreamt of telling my story.” In Galaxy Love we see an ode to recent wounds. The distorted vocals grumble against the simple yet sparkling beat. Morrison shows her ability to be vulnerable with listeners while crafting lyrics with great symmetry – “the static electricity and ecstasy of knowing I’m in your thoughts.” Her words beckon to a high school diary or words on a bathroom stall.
