Memorial Day Weekend is one of those horrible moments in life where the thought of finding something to do is almost enough to make you not want to do anything at all. There are sure things however, even in New York City, like going to The Bowery Electric.
To kick off summer, The Bowery Electric hosts an annual party of legendary proportions—a word that feels icky but that is really the only appropriate description. The past parties have seen Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth, Martin Rev of Suicide, Fred Armisen, David Johansen and Sylvain Sylvain of The New York Dolls, and a laundry list of other icons grace the floors of The Bowery Electric.
This year however the event features all of the most far flung Brooklyn favorites in one spot. The night opens with sets from Fist of Facts with Sal P of Liquid Liquid and Nation of Language. The rest of the night Future Punx will be playing as the house band and featuring performances by Pill’s Veronica Torres, Honduras’ Patrick Phillips, Teen Body’s Shannon Lee, Strange Names’ Liam Benzvi, The Fleshtones’ Peter Zaremba and pretty much anyone else you could think of as this party rages from 8:30 pm to 4 am.
Sally Can’t Dance happens Sunday May 27th starting at 8:30 pm, details and tickets here.
