After playing the token girl in numerous bands of guys, bassist Grace Weir, guitarist and lyricist Spencer Peppet, percussionist Micaela Adams, and violinist Andrea Gutmann Fuentes joined together in high school to form girl band the Ophelias, shedding light on their own feminine energy and shared experiences into beautiful melodies and intricately woven instrumentals.
“General Electric,” the second single off their sophomore record Almost premiering July 13th, reflects an introspective light on yearning for an unattainable love “I wanna be just like the girls you like / I wanna be what you fantasize.” Soft spoken harmonies, tight drums, and whimsical synths tie together into a sickly sweet, melancholic anthem you wish you could have listened to laying on your childhood bedroom floor, thinking about your high school crush.
