The Trash Bags’ record release subway show

It was a freezing December night, I heard about The Trash Bags record release show day of, obviously they didn’t want to make it too rowdy cause it was in a public space. There were no set times, or exact location, it just said, Union Square… we had to get there on time cause the cops were probably gonna shut it down.

We followed the noise and Trash Bags were already on, you could smell the piss and feel the leather, New York at its finest, right where it belongs, in the subway.

The Trash Bags singer Chuck Bones was going for it, shirtless, getting in the crowd, churning the debauchery, getting into fans faces and stopping common commuters.

With a quick changeover, cumgirl8 was up next, the black leather became colorful circus-esque, accompanied by their dancer rocking bells, whipping around her pony tail, rolling around on the subway floor. drumsticks were shattered, blood was shed, and we still didn’t get kicked out.

Gnarcissists came on last, I still couldn’t tell if the kids in the crowd were there for the show, or just passing by after school. But as soon as the set started a bunch of em were singing along, moshing, and knew the lyrics better than Nazar.

I’m looking at the crowd thinking, hmm… some of these kids probably gotta wait a couple more years to be able to get into shows, maybe the subway is one of the very few all ages venues in NY these days.

Shout out to the didgeridoo busker for trying to play over the amps, you were the additional band member nobody asked for, and to the angry subway riders walking right through the mosh pits to catch their train. Stand clear of the closing doors.

3 great bands for the price of a swipe. Or you could have just jumped the turnstiles.
