Listen: Thee Oh Sees “Web”

Thee Oh Sees return in May with their ninth album, Mutilator Defeated At Last. It’s the bands fourth full-length with John Dwyer’s co-owned Castle Face Records under their most recent moniker, ‘Thee Oh Sees’ (as opposed to past apellations which have included ‘The OhSees’ and simply ‘OCS’) – and all since 2008, as well as plenty of others. A busy outfit to say the least. They’ve shared the album’s burly five minute opener, “Web,” rife with fuzz guitar and aberrant vocal effects that is exemplary of their beloved psyche rock. The track is powered by an incessant, forward drum throb and – though by no means disconcerting – heavier guitar playing than we’re used to, tied together by a funkier than expected bass groove. If you’re currently in Austin, be sure to catch them at this year’s SXSW:
