Watch: Arcade Fire Dazzle With New Interactive Film

Arcade Fire

Arcade Fire returns with a psychedelic interactive short film to showcase their new single “Reflektor,” the title track of their highly anticipated upcoming album. Entitled JUST A REFLEKTOR, the film follows a woman dressed in an extravagant neon leotard as she dances her way through some trippy trials and tribulations in Haiti, including an oceanic baptism and a confrontation with an eerie mob in black hooded cloaks. This film is dividedly menacing and celebratory, like much of Arcade Fire’s discography, and it shines in its aesthetic, interactive ingenuity, and lush emotional cadence. The visual spectacle, however, is only a sliver of everything great going on here; the song itself is proof of Arcade Fire writing at the top of their game, with James Murphy’s groove-building hand doing outstanding and not so subtle work in the mix alongside a confirmed vocal contribution from David Bowie.

To take part in the experience, head to www.justareflektor.com on a Google Chrome browser and follow the instructions.

Or, check out the more traditional music video for the song. It features a second incarnation of a man made of broken glass, a casket full of nude toy dolls, and the band playing in the back of a truck wearing creepy over-sized masks of themselves.

Reflektor is out October 29th from Merge. Anyone else stoked?
