Watch: Conor Oberst “Common Knowledge”

Conor Oberst’s new video for “Common Knowledge,” a track off his recent album Upside Down Mountain, follows a simple yet artistic narrative in which Oberst drinks, smokes, and gallivants through his record label’s office and the streets of NYC. The video kicks off with a recorded female voice asking, “Do you have any regrets?” As you’d expect, Oberst replies, “Of course. Lots of regrets. But that doesn’t really matter now,” painting his adventures in a hushed, contemplative aura. The tender melancholy of this acoustic track is the perfect accompaniment to the what-am-I-doing-with-my-life visuals and story arc, and the combination of the two provides a satisfying pause from the chaos of the day-to-day.
