From the first time seeing them live, cumgirl8 has always felt part-punk rock, part-performance art. Delving into fashion pursuits featured in Vogue in addition to their latest conceptual music videos, it’s clear that the group’s creativity and performance quality is currently throttling at its full potential and it’s thrilling to see.
The video for their latest single “Pluck Me” is a spiral of anxiety mixed with the group’s patented celebration of the power of unapologetic femininity and friendship. We see the group go through the club, do choreographed movements in a conversation pit, and ultimately escape in the open air at dawn in a wild celebration of freedom.
cumgirl8 shared a few words about the track and the video: A spiral into a new beginning. This song is like going into an anxiety trip panic attack and coming out of it. A lost self that is taken over by someone who wants control and lacks communication. What’s on your mind? Let’s talk about it, call me out, hear me out, let’s figure this out. Let’s be equal because right now thoughts are brewing and no clear communication is happening. The anxiety in this song is linked to love, realizing relationship toxicity and getting away from it, getting stronger, and fighting against the stigma of femmes as prey.
Musically, it’s a thrilling song start to finish. It struts and stalks before combusting into cathartic flames. Thankfully, it’s not the last we’ll see of cumgirl8 as their new EP RIPcumgirl8 is out October 22nd. You can pre-order it now here.
