Watch: DOOM & Bishop Nehru “Darkness (HBU)”

Bishop-Nehru-MF-DOOM

Underground hip hop legend MF DOOM and 17-year-old promising new comer Bishop Nehru have released the first video from their upcoming collab album, NehruvianDOOM. Nehru started making music and editing videos at the age of 13 and has attracted artists such as Wu-Tang Clan, Kendrick Lamar and Disclosure. He first premiered “Darkeness (HBU)” at this year’s SXSW, where he announced via Twitter, “Hey Nehruvians NEHRUVIANDOOM is no longer an EP and it’s officially going to be an Album. K bye.” The music video for “Darkness (HBU)” was produced by DOOM, who doesn’t rap on the track or appear in the video, though he is most certainly present — the last clip is Nehru showing off his MF DOOM mask bling. On the first track off Nehru’s debut album he delivers lyrics way beyond his years. He hits us with the hook, “cruel, cruel world all I’m seeing is darkness” over big band instrumentals throughout as he wanders around a dark urban space. This gritty video offers viewers no frills, just hip hop.

NehruvianDOOM will be released later in 2014 via Lex.
