Watch: First Aid Kit “My Silver Lining”

10153106_10151979845495965_701777656_nBack in 2008, Swedish sister act, First Aid Kit, caused a mild ruckus after covering Fleet Foxes’ “Tiger Mountain Peasant Song” via YouTube. Today, that rendition’s collected three million plays, while the girls gallivant toward something big. Between vocally guest starring all over Conor Oberst’s latest album Upside Down Mountain and gearing up for their debut LP Stay Gold, they’re pretty busy. Oh yeah, and yesterday, they dropped the video for “My Silver Lining,” the first single off their forthcoming album.

The video paints an old-timey picture that’s equal parts intriguing and mysterious, but above all, enchanting. It opens with flashes of tunnels and glitter and forests before centering on both ladies cruising down a palm tree-lined street (in a car driven by no one).

It’s the perfect companion for a track that glows with a heavy folk likeability. Fast-paced vocals coo: “I don’t want to wait anymore, I’m tired of looking for answers / take me someplace where there’s music and there’s laughter.” The twangy timbre and dark strings bring dusty saloons and Jolene-era Dolly Parton to mind. At the video’s four-minute mark, a mansion comes to life as the sisters find their way back to the car (and then forest) in what feels like one big golden blur. It’s all kinda breathtaking.

Listen and watch, below.

Stay Gold is out June 10th.
