José González returns with a music video that will send you soaring. Instead of pulling you back into his world, after a near decade-long absence, González lets you go like a balloon into the open blue sky. His voice follows you though, guiding you through the heavens as you look down to the earth below. “Every Age” is the first track to be released off González’s long awaited third album, Vestiges and Claws, which is due early next year. Upon first listen, I was relieved to hear that the soothing folk singer hasn’t lost his touch. González tells us to slow down, look around the world we roam and find peace in the simplicity of it all. The song rolls on, as if it were a thematic background track to the part of a road trip where everyone in the car has fallen silent due to long hours on the highway and conversation running dry. Take the ride for yourself, see where González leads you. Hopefully this track and video will hold you over for a little while longer until the new album comes out. I know it will for me.
