Watch: King Krule “Czech One”

kk---press-shot

Not Archy Marshall, not Return of the Pimp Shrimp or any of his other aliases but King Krule is officially back. After a week or two of teasing new music with bizarre videos, posters and a tour announcement (with two!! New York shows), King Krule unveiled the first single and accompanying video for “Czech One.”

The video shows Archy looking like a kid playing dress up in his father’s suit, sauntering around through plans of existence and melancholy. The track shows a soft side of King Krule, more honest and un-manipulated vocals as he morosely croons  “is it the numb density? / Can’t even look her in the eye.”

“Czech One” is quieter and less baritone than anything on 6 Feet Beneath The Moon, the last King Krule album which is now four years old. Sonically, the single sounds closer to some of the R&B influences and mammoth slow beats from his last 2015 project as Archy Marshal, A New Place 2 Drown.
