Watch: Sleater-Kinney “Bury Our Friends” Featuring Miranda July

Except for a few blips in nearly a decade, Sleater-Kinney seemed comfortably entrenched in an indefinite hiatus — until now. Making a comeback with a video for their latest single, “Bury Our Friends,” Slater-Kinney is proving that time may have passed but their edge never left. Gritty vocals shine atop guitar-driven post-punk ambling, and a masked Miranda July anxiously builds courage as the song gains momentum, culminating in some serious shoulder rolls. This lyric video provides us all the words to the personal / political conflict they never seem to win, and we can’t help but want to shout along until the newly confirmed full-length, No Cities to Love, drops in the new year.

No Cities to Love is out January 20 from Sub Pop.
