Yaasss caused absolute debauchery for their record release show

Last month the falafel punk rockers Yaasss created a world of mayhem in the concrete walls of Brooklyn’s gritty Alphaville. The night was dark and shimmering with sweaty glittered-up bodies moshing against each other and sinful music awakening all kinds of monsters. Opened by the equally as riotous NYC bands Cindy Cane, Flasyd and Native Sun, the night didn’t leave even a second for relaxation—this was no time to chill, anyway.

People moshed and crowd-surfed like they had been swirled up into a raging sand storm. Which was no surprise, because the 7” being released that night, So Down To Go Down (Fetish Records/Roolette Records) welcomed the world to four tracks worthy of inciting a riot. Tracks like “Full Moon Junkies” and “$Money$” got everyone all hot and heavy shouting along to lines like, “tell me why, tell me, tell me why/ you’re going crazy and I’m going wild/ there’s something strange in the air tonight/ something’s wrong, but I’m alright!”

The drum set took a beating, getting knocked over a couple of times by band members and impassioned fans. The blow-up doll/silent band member had the best night of its sexy life. It truly was a gathering of NYC’s full moon junkies and you better believe the freaks were let loose.
