5 Podcasts To Listen To This Week

So, we figured at Alt Citizen that it was time to make a list of our favorite podcasts. Now, these are my own favorites, and I have others, but for whatever reason these are the ones I am going with. While I do hope you all enjoy them as much as I do, it will not affect how often I continue to listen to them. With out further ado, I present my favorite podcasts. Enjoy!

1. Judge John Hodgman

jjho_26

This was the first podcast I actually listened to and it’s still the best, in my humble opinion. Hosted by John Hodgman, who you might know from the the greatest show HBO ever canceled: Bored to Death (or from the Mac v PC commercials of yesterday, in which he starred as PC, and co-hosted by his bailiff Jesse Thorn). The Judge John Hodgman Podcast stars Mr. Hodgman ruling as an Internet judge on everything from a Dad wanting to make his daughter watch The Third Man to a girlfriend who wants her boyfriend to stop digging through the trash at his local pizzeria. It is an absolute masterpiece and you will not regret listening.

Best Episodes: “Die Flederhaus” and “Pepperoni Pauper”

2. Joe Rogan Experience

the-joe-rogan-experience-podcastOkay, I know, you do not want to here about MMA or working out, I understand. Here’s the thing, The Joe Rogan Experience is a lot more than those two things. I ridiculed my brother for years as he insisted I listen. Finally I did and it is amazing. He gets a litany of interesting people to come on and talks for three hours, covering everything. From Scientists to Archeologists to Comedians, this is another amazing podcast!

Best Episodes: Anything with Joey ‘CoCo’ Diaz or Graham Hancock

3.Comedy Bang Bang

CBBLOGOFULL-300x300This podcast is ridiculous! Listening to Bob Odenkirk ask a couple about their “Spooky Haunted House,” which is only open three days a week for four hours, is brilliant. Hosted by writer and comedian Scott Aukerman, this show rarely fails. Watch out for classic recurring characters like Bill Cosby Bukowski who is, you guessed it, a cross between Bill Cosby and Charles Bukowski.

Best Episodes: Anything with Tim Heidecker or Bob Odenkirk

4. Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History

Yeah, yeah, history is lame and whatever. Listen to this. Dan Carlin goes through different eras, peoples and wars through out history in incredible detail. The best part? It is not boring at all! Want to learn about WWI without being bored? Or Maybe Martin Luther or the Vikings or Rome? Listen to Hardcore History.

Best Episodes: Impossible. It really just depends on what you are interested in learning.

5. The Monday Morning Podcast with Bill Burr

If you like Bill Burr, and I hope you do, you have to check out his Monday Morning Podcast. Which, as he often bemoans, is not actually ready on Monday morning — he just tries to tape it then, usually releasing it Monday night or Tuesday. Listen as Bill complains about buying a house, hockey, LA, people, friends and everything in between.

Best Episode: The one where his house gets flooded.

Honarable mention: The Bugle Podcast

This is a very British podcast, hosted by John Oliver and Andy Zaltzman. Just give it a shot. John Oliver, as we now know from Last week Tonight, is hilarious.
