Day Wave is the solo project of Jackson Phillips, a singer-songwriter from Oakland who’s been getting lots of love for his dreamy, lo-fi take on indie pop. His music is full of bright, charming melodies and fuzzed-out guitar riffs, creating the perfect soundtrack for some slow headbobbing beneath a hot sun. He’s been taking over charts everywhere, from Hype Machine to Sirius Alt Nation — and all without the help of a label.
Back in July, he dropped his debut EP, Headcase, and just recently he began a summer tour supporting the release. Seeing as this tour will be bringing him to the east coast for his very first NYC performance (tonight@ Mercury Lounge, 6:30pm!), we knew we had to sit down with pop auteur and pick his brain about what keeps him energized and inspired. Check out the food, tunes, and TV that keep Day Wave riding the vibes, and thenĀ grab your tickets for the show tonight!
