A Few of Our Favorite Things: LANY

Somewhere between smoky synths, cool backbeats and dreamy vibes exist the blossoming sub-genres of Future RnB and FuturePop. Los Angeles-based trio LANY (pronounced with a “long a,” like rainy) fall blissfully in between these new genres and they’re onto something big. Their latest track “Made in Hollywood” strikes a balance between laid-back and lively without ever losing a certain, and constant, romantic undercurrent. Overall, LANY bring dreamy to new levels. Previous song highlights include “BRB” and HypeM chart-topper “ILYSB” with rom-com-ready lyrics like “Ya need to know that nobody could take your place and ya need to know that I’m hella obsessed with your face. Oh, my heart hurts so good. I love you babe, so bad, so bad.” Smack in the middle of a love for New York and a yearning for California, it’s no doubt these guys wear their hearts on their sleeves, while using kitchen lights as disco balls. Here, the band opens up to us about other things they’re hella obsessed with—from palm trees to the Olsen twins. Check it out, below.
