Are you on the list, baby? NYC-based signature cool-girl Rare DM heads West in her new video for the single “LA traffic,” directed by MALLEN. Direct from her new album entitled “Attention,” releasing May 29th, Rare prances around Hollywood for a dramatic paparazzi-filled night.
The song itself tells the story of a wild night across the City of Angels. Rare transforms into a quintessential LA party girl. We see Rare show off her humorous acting skills as she tells the story of a problematic situationship with a careless, sexy attitude. From the farmers market, to the pool, to the bar, she dances around town with a whole lot of attitude and very little clothing. Her platinum hair and catchy lyrics really make this one a must-see.
“I grew out my hair for this video. Originally, I was going to get a spray tan… but I realized I’d still be orange for my record release show. I had an absolute ball shooting this video with a small crew in LA, directed by my bestie Mallen, CD & edited by me. There is one moment in the video where I break character – I wonder if you can spot it…” Rare stated.
“Who is she? Chronically late and overdressed for the occasion. Did she call the paparazzi on herself? Is she famous? We don’t know, but her situationship in Echo Park smokes like a chimney and won’t hop in the pool with her. She’s a total flirt, only eats organic, and doesn’t hold her liquor well. El Prado is her favorite date spot.” She continued.
Working alongside MALLEN, Rare cultivated the perfect video for “LA Traffic.” With color done by Calvin Stark, the video shines bright ahead of her new album. Lyrically, Rare pokes fun at classic on-again-off-again relationships while still having a throughline of excellent writing.
