AFROPUNK — our beloved, diverse, (not to mention free) counterculture festival — returned to Brooklyn’s Commodore Barry Park for its 10th annual incarnation this past weekend, touting a deluge of talent from countless genres, including punk, soul, r&b, rap, hip-hop, and metal. Thousands of fans turned out for the explosive end of summer festivities, to embrace endless talent including Bad Brains, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Cro-Mags, HO99O9, and, of course, the wise-beyond-their-years metal sensation Unlocking the Truth.
