Bambara want you to know that you’re gonna die someday, so f*ck it — listen to “Sing Me to the Street”

In a body to body-to-body packed show at St. Vitus a couple of weeks back Bambara played a very loud show, very close to the dense room. They’re a band’s band, writing gothic novelas set to a booming atmosphere of carefully layered sound. But they’re also a fan’s band, playing to a small crowd with the energy of a stadium show while keeping the intimacy of those person-to-person moments.

The second single “Sing Me To The Street” for their upcoming album Stray gives off a distinctly different vibe from their live set. It’s a moody almost-tango telling a story about death and an abandoned city. It’s that kind of drama that takes heavy and purposeful steps, but it’s kind of nihilistic, too. “Grab their cat and run,” ’cause what’s the point? That’s a feeling we can all relate to atm.

The rest of the record promises to tell more stories like this one, so keep an eye out on 2/14 (maybe play their lead single “Serafina,” a narrative about a juvenile arsonist setting fire to the whole of Georgia, for your valentine?) for Stray. Until then, enjoy them here totally complicit in a request to cuddle in a pile of garbage together and to pose in a commercial freezer full of Bud:
