binki defies definition on ‘Motor Function’

So much music sounds exactly the same these days. Everyone sticks to their own clique. The pop stars, hip hop artists, and rock and roll kids. It’s rare to find an artist who defies categorization, and often when they do, it is to their detriment. People like to be fed something simple and familiar. Unfortunately, this is often the death of innovation — no one is brave enough to experiment and truly create something brand new.

Well, no one except binki apparently. The New York based artist just dropped his brand new EP ‘Motor Function’ and it seems to straddle at least four different genres. He has the unusual beats of an indie artist, but with his track “Invisible Fence” he sounds catchy enough to be be described as pop. Each of his tracks could easily fit into the hip hop genre, and he pays tribute to funk in every single one of his tracks.

So many artists are discouraged from originality these days but binki has no such fears. Instead, his sound allows him to stand out from the crowd, and offers up something truly original. A brand new sound that defies definition.
