Cozying up in the intimate space at Pianos Thursday night to watch New York based Luke Rathborne and his band play was like watching the cool band from high school play in your basement during a house party. Their upbeat indie surf jams resonated with the crowd until we were witnessing a modern day Beach Boys singing garage-pop anthems.

Empress of 10/16/2015 @ Cameo Gallery
Watching electro-pop princess Empress Of perform at one of Cameo Gallery’s last shows was bittersweet-but mostly sweet. Her soft vocals and 80’s over the top dance moves gave notion to a young Janet Jackson or the making of a new superstar, Empress Of. Her tantalizing vocals over the increased intensity of futuristic disco sounds and raspy gasps made for the ultimate indie dance show.
