In a rich, red brocade room, complete with a heart shaped headboard and sparkling chandelier, we find the always enchanting Glume for her latest hypnotic dance hit. Looking like a mix between doll and old Hollywood starlet, she’s dressed in a nautical sailor suit and flocked by a bass player and drummer who are dark-haired variations of herself. Visually, it looks like David Lynch took a trip on the good ship lollipop and created both this room and Glume herself. Her ethereal vocals coo over the opening synths.
There’s a darkness behind the beautiful facade, though. Glume shared that this song was inspired by her own struggles with a rare heart condition. Under this information, this beautiful dance track is also one that deals with the ideas of one’s own mortality. It’s refined chaos, intricately designed, and delicately balanced. Is it worth it to be undone by someone who makes you feel so intensely? Those are the stakes Glume is up against. While her lyrics may say she is diving into that risk head first, we see Glume alone at the end of the video, perhaps suggesting that despite wanting to let herself feel deeply for someone else, her own self preservation keeps her solo.
