December 6: Twin Peaks @ Webster Hall

As we’re coming to the end of the decade, there’s been a definite shift in attention to what was the “best of” of the last 10 years. In terms of best live music experiences, I’d say Twin Peaks concerts definitely top the list. I’m not being hyperbolic when I say that they’re truly one of (if not the) most important rock bands of my generation — continuing to explore and succeed in a genre that hasn’t necessarily been having a “moment” like SoundCloud rappers, Korean boy bands, post-punk, or ASMR infused pop wunderkids. I know for many people, the band was an entry into the world of rock and roll. Twin Peaks has lifted up a genre for an entire demographic of young artists who are hoping to have that similar lightening-in-a-bottle feel at their shows; to have such a strong legacy behind their group that twitter accounts make fun of how many people proudly proclaim that they “saw Twin Peaks in a basement in 2011″. Their latest album ‘Lookout Low’ was a shift for the band in terms of their style — moving into a more mellow, groovier pocket — but from what I can tell their concerts still have that same electric energy that made them such a beloved group in the first place. Even though New York can’t claim them as our own, their show at Webster Hall this Friday feels like a homecoming of sorts. While people have been talking nonstop about the infamous show at Baby’s YEARS ago where the ceiling literally got torn down, this will be the band’s first big appearance back in the city in a minute. It’s going to be one of the shows of the year where literally every person I know will be in attendance to celebrate the band graduating to a larger scale stage and production — incorporating supplementary musicians and vocalists to their set and packing the bill with support from Lala Lala and OHMME. They’re one of those bands that you must see live. The albums are great, don’t get me wrong, but you haven’t really heard Twin Peaks until you’ve experienced them live. If you love yourself, don’t miss out on one of the best bands doing it today and get your ass to Webster Hall this Friday.

You can buy tix here, but do it now cause this shit is gonna sell out
