ICYMI is a series featuring new and notable releases you (and we) may have missed

Angel Olsen – “Lark”
Apparently, Angel Olsen doesn’t want you to cry anymore, but I’m not sure if that’s gonna happen. With “Lark” though, the 6 minute, cinematic video will at least propel you more into a cathartic release, finally free from the burden of your nostalgia with each crescendo, than a woe-is-me stupor. The track is somewhat disjointed (coming together over years and different shared experiences) but beautifully so.
“Salmon of Knowledge” – Girl Band
As we not so patiently await the newest full length release from the Dublin 4 piece, “Salmon of Knowledge” will tie us over until 9/27. With almost monk-like chants and their signature electric, rubberband droning sensation pulling at you through out, it’s evocative of some sort of ritual or ceremony rooted in mythology or religion (but with a clear harder and more current edge).
“Last Night” – Rose Cologne
Dark, mysterious, and propelling guitar riffs into the night sky, Rose Cologne’s debut single “Last Night” sets the perfect tone for what’s to come from the band. Not so quietly making their way around Brooklyn (in addition to picking up steam in LA and the UK) their brand of seventies-esque rock with a twisted edge will sink into your system and have you dancing the night away.
