Listen: Bear In Heaven “Time Between”

Dead-Oceans-Time-Is-Over-One-Day-Old

Brooklyn’s Bear In Heaven last graced the music scene with 2012’s dance oriented I Love You, It’s Cool. In the time in between they moved to a new label (Dead Oceans) and now have a new album ready for our unworthy consumption. The new LP is cheekily titled Time Is Over One Day Old and will see release in August. You can check out the track list a little farther down in this post. The band also released a spacey new track titled “Time Between.”

As mentioned above, I Love You, It’s Cool was something a departure from the band’s progressive sound. It was rooted in fast beats and upbeat rhythms. “Time Between” seems to be a return to their previous style, focusing more on ethereal posturing. Beyond the relatively high paced drumming, everything else in the song sounds like it’s wading through sludge. It’s timing doesn’t ever feel quite right. You could easily interpret all this slow burn to an allusion of floating, particularly in space, which syncs up well with the lyrics. No matter what version of the band’s sound you like, it’s really just nice to have them and their unique view on rock back. Check out “Time Between” below as well as the track list of Time Is Over One Day Old.
