You may know Frankie Rose from Dum Dum Girls, Vivian Girls, Crystal Stilts, or most likely her recent solo work. Needless to say, she’s had a hand in the creation of a lot of awesome music. She’s formed a new band with Drew Citron, who plays in Avan Lava as well as Rose’s own touring band. The band is named Beverly, and features Rose on drums and Citron on guitar. They will have an album out later this year on Kanine Records. For now, they’ve released “Honey Do,” a track that appears on Kanine’s upcoming Record Store Day Compilation (RSD is April 19th, so don’t forget to mark your calendars!).

The song is marked by feedback laden guitar, and features plenty of harmonies. It’s got a major lo-fi vibe, which is only cleared near the end, when an almost surf rock style guitar riff comes into the mix for a brief moment. The song cuts out on the chorus as well, which is a simple “Oh, honey do.” It all comes together quite well, and feels like just enough of a variation from Rose’s solo work to feel fresh. We’ll certainly be keeping on eye on the duo. Listen below.

“Honey Do” appears on Non Violent Femmes, Kanine’s Record Store Day compilation (which also features many of our other favorite bands), out April 19th at a record store near you.
