We are pretty excited for Fear of Men’s new album, Loom. While we still have until Record Store Day to check it out, we will get a preview of the album via the Luna/Outrun Me single. This isn’t any ordinary single, as Art is Hard will release the single as a special 5″ flexidisc. It will also come with a zine curated by the band themselves, including photos from the band and lyrics from the new album. On top of all this news, we got to hear the B-side of the single, “Outrun Me”
While it most likely won’t make Loom, “Outrun Me” has an immense amount of beauty within. It’s largely pushed forward by its lyrics. They deal with young love and loss of self, which is becoming a common theme with the band’s work. It feels like it meanders a little, and in that way I can see why it was relegated to a b-side. It feels more like a song that helped them find a sound and feeling that they were able to better convey on other songs, such as “Waterfall” (which we heard earlier in the year). Even if it isn’t perfect, it still bears a strong emotional load and is worth listening for that alone. Listen Below.
The Luna/Outrun Me “flexizine” is out April 7 on Art is Hard. You can pre-order it here.
(and seriously you should grab it if you can — look at how cool it is)
