“Souvenirs”, the most recent offering from Manchester indie outfit Idle Hours, is what happens when a group skillfully and effectively combine their various references and sources of inspiration into singular audio form. Pulling from as far and wide as Stranger in a Strange Land, an extraterrestrial landing at Disneyland, and Shame’s “Angie”, these seemingly disconnected ideas are fused in a way that is catchy, new, and wholly Idle Hours.
The band shared: “The foundations of ‘Souvenirs’ were written after listening to ‘Angie’ by Shame on repeat during a dog walk in the 2020 sun. I loved the driving repetition of that song and it inspired me to try and write something similar.”
With a chorus that begs you to yell along, an infectious guitar line, and a live show that seemingly cannot be stopped, Idle Hours seemed poised to make their mark not only in the UK scene, but beyond.
